Traditional Wedding Cake Case Study

Added on January 4th 2015

Keeley and Lee first met at nursery, although little did they know that in 2014, on their ten-year anniversary, they would be husband and wife.

With a little under 10 months to plan a wedding, Project Coordinator Keeley Brain and Sales Manager Lee Wilkinson took on the almighty task of planning their dream wedding.

After finally gathering the courage to ask Keeley to be his girlfriend on the 18th October 2004, Lee cemented his love and commitment to Keeley when asking her to marry him on Christmas Day 2013, just 10 months before their memorable anniversary.

Once the important date, 18th October 2014, was confirmed, and the church and venue were booked, Keeley and Lee began planning every fine detail of their big day.

With the theme focusing predominantly around autumnal, traditional, vintage, lace and ivory, self-confessed worrier and “control freak” Keeley had envisioned her dream wedding, and with the help from local wedding suppliers, she was determined to make that dream a reality.

Holding an intimate wedding set in St John The Evangelist Church, Milton and Wroxton House Hotel with 53 day guests and 89 evening guests, Keeley and Lee needed the ideal cake to meet their needs. After finding Cakes For All UK on Facebook, Keeley and Lee met up with Rosy to discuss their needs;

“Meeting with Rosy we instantly felt at ease. I am a natural born worrier and control freak so handing over the making of our wedding cake was tough. I need not have worried. She did a brilliant job and matched our specification perfectly. To this day we get comments about the cake!”

With a design in mind, Keeley and Lee were keen to stick to their idea with a special Cakes For All UK spin. With a traditional yet modern twist, together with a lace detail entwined into the design, guests together with the Bride and Groom enjoyed delicious flavours including Lemon Drizzle and Chocolate Baileys.

Looking back on her day, Keeley shared: “Having spent a day with our closest family and friends we experienced many, many highlights we will treasure for ever. I think making our vows to each other in church in front of everyone is the main purpose of a wedding but all the highlights added together make for a very memorable occasion.”

If you’re planning your wedding day, and are in need of some advice, Keeley recommends:

“Remember it is your wedding day, and only yours, not anyone else’s.  Having two photographers enabled us to catch different shots we wouldn’t have got if we had only had one – some of these are the best from the day. The two worked in partnership perfectly and have provided us with a lifetime of memories. Shop around, sadly I was guilty of buying something I liked and not shopping around, being someone who likes to get things organised I bought what I liked, and think money could have been saved if we had shopped around more, perhaps having more time would have helped.”
