Just over ten years ago, at the tender age of 16 and 17, Claire and Gavin clocked eyes on each other in the Sixth-Form corridors, and the rest has been a tale of simply “meant to be” as the newly married Mr and Mrs Connor began their roller-coaster ride.
Experiencing the perils of University, further education, buying their first home together and even going through home renovations, Head of Marketing Claire and Primary School Teacher Gavin had always had one date in mind to make the ultimate commitment: 19th September 2015, their 10 year anniversary.
Following their engagement, there was always one Banbury-based cake maker to make their dream wedding cake: Rosy – of course!
With both Claire and Gavin being self-confessed tea and biscuit obsessed, the theme was set, and it was down to Wedding Cake Makers in Banbury (Cakes for All UK) to help turn that vision into a reality.
Claire and Gavin recall: “Having set our heart of a tea and biscuit theme, until our meeting with Rosy we really couldn’t visualise what the cake would look like. All we knew was that we wanted it to fit in with the theme.”
“What Rosy designed was far better than anything we could have ever thought-up. And upon seeing it on our wedding day, it was far better than we could have ever hoped…and it tasted great too! All of the guests didn’t stop complimenting us on the cake throughout the day – Rosy really did wonders”
Combining their royal blue colours and even the flowers within the Bouquets (as created together with the church and venue flowers by Hibiscus Flowers), together with their chosen flavours on the four-tire wedding cake fruit cake, chocolate orange and carrot cake, lemon drizzle cake and a chocolate brownie cake with a hidden layer of hobnobs, biscuits as décor and even their favourite cup of tea, Cakes for All UK certainly delivered the ideal cake for their ideal theme.
With wedding suppliers coming together for the local wedding, Claire and Gavin experienced their dream day expertly delivered by Cakes for All UK, Hibiscus Floral Design, Henry’s of Banbury, Village Brides, Cherwell Edge Golf Club, Middleton Cheney All Saints Church and Crofts Cars of Distinction.
Looking back on the day, Claire shares; “The whole day I think I was walking on cloud nine. When people say it’s the best day of your life, you don’t actually realise it is until you go through it. To all upcoming brides and grooms, my best advice is to just enjoy it – everything will come together on the day, then you can enjoy a lifetime of happiness.”
